 Viviane Hagner

 Artistic Direction

„Inspired by the many summers I spent at the Marlboro Music School and Festival in Vermont as well as by my activity on the Advisory Board of the Freya von Moltke Foundation, I discovered Krzyżowa to be the perfect place for such a chamber music festival in Europe. I am delighted that a number of my colleagues, including seniors of Marlboro, are joining me to make this new European music project possible.“

Viviane Hagner is one of the most distinguished musicians of her generation. Since her debut with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under Zubin Mehta as a thirteen-year-old, she has played with leading orchestras around the world such as the Berlin Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra.

She has performed with conductors such as Abbado, Ashkenazy, Barenboim, Bychkov, Chailly, Dutoit, Eschenbach, Maazel, Nagano, Zinman and Zukerman. She is a regular guest at renowned festivals including the Marlboro Festival in the USA. She was „Artist in Residence“ at the Berlin Konzerthaus and was „Award-Winner-in-Residence“ at the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Viviane Hagner is also involved in outreach activities for people of all ages. She has given numerous violin master classes and was Professor of Violin from 2009 at the Berlin University of the Arts. Since 2013 she holds the same position at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts.
